We are going to have our 4th trail work day on Sunday 8/15 at 8:30am. This will be a short trail work day with all work completed by 10:30am.
The goal is to install nine sections of temporary boardwalk that will be used to cross a wetland area (see attached image showing these sections). This has to get done this weekend since the helical install is scheduled for August 18th.
Each of these sections weighs about 250lbs and can be carried by four people on flat ground. The problem is they need to be carried across uneven ground so if someone trips, it could cause serious injury.
Therefore I am asking for additional help to do this task. I think we need at least 6 or 8 people to be sure we have a margin of safety.
The wetland area is not wet, just a little mushy in spots so hiking boots will work just fine. Please bring gloves. All other tools will be provided.
Please note that 3 of our regular volunteers are not medically able to show up for this work day so we need NEW people to come and take their place.
I would like to thank Steve Kellet for working with me this week in hot and humid conditions to prepare the wetland area. Dozens of trees and brush were cut and hand carried out of the wetland area to prepare for this temporary boardwalk and the helical posts.
Also want to thank John Ryan, Steve Adario and Pierre Lavigne for building the temporary boardwalk sections two weeks ago.
Please contact me by email or phone if you can go. I need to be sure we have enough people to do this task.
