There will be a trail work day on Sunday March 15 at 8:30am leaving from the snowmobile bridge on Paris Road (where PT 117 crosses Paris Road).
The goal of this trail work day is to cut open a trail to the wetlands area where the helical post test will be done on March 26th.
Kate and I went out yesterday and we were able to cut open about 1/4 of the route. The problem we ran into was deep snow. Some snow would support our weight but other parts would not and we would sink up to our waist.
I called the ATV club in Berlin and they agreed to loan us their tracked ATV so we could use that to pack down the snow and carry equipment.
This ATV is being delivered on Thursday and we can use it on Sunday to pack snow as we cut which should make it much easier to get through the snow. Our VP Suzanne Barss has graciously allowed us to park the tracked ATV in her yard which is just up the street.
We mostly need people to throw the brush off the trail once it is cut. But if you have a chain saw and want to use it, please bring it along.
Otherwise wear clothing that will work in deep snow.
